About this site

DroneForensics.com is a starting point for people doing drone forensics and exploitation work: clear explanations, practical guidance and a curated list of open-source tools. We will be publishing original research soon. Tell us what you'd like to see

How we put it together

  • Method first. The guides explain how the work is done and where its limits are, whatever tools you use.
  • Open-source tools listed on merit. The open-source list covers community projects, with their license and last activity. No project pays to be included.
  • Dated and checked. Pages that depend on outside sources show when their links were last checked.
  • Corrections welcome. If something is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it.

Who publishes it

This site is published by DroneTrace, a Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business near Charlottesville, Virginia. DroneTrace builds software for exploiting recovered drones in the field and runs training in drone forensics and exploitation.

DroneTrace sells drone exploitation software and training, and you will see its products mentioned across this site. The guides themselves are written to be useful whatever tools you use. If you are interested in training, you can ask about it here.
